We are PROUD of our service men and women in the United States Military

US Military 101:  There are five military branches: The Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.

Sherman_Tank_WW2.pngArmy. Founded on June 14, 1775.  The United States Army is the main ground-force of the United States. The Army's main function is to protect and defend the United States (and its interests) by way of ground troops, armor (tanks), artillery, attack helicopters, tactical nuclear weapons, etc. Each year we celebrate Army Day on April 6th.

fighter-plane_422_19455.jpgAir Force. Founded September 18, 1947. The Air Force is the youngest military service.   The primary mission of the Air Force is to defend the United States (and its interests) through exploitation of air and space.   Each year we celebrate Air Force Day on August 1.

navy.jpgNavy. Founded October 13, 1775.  The Navy's primary mission is to maintain the freedom of the seas. The Navy makes it possible for the United States to use the seas where and when our national interests require it.  Each year we celebrate Navy Day on October 27.

marine-sword.jpgMarine Corps. Founded November 10, 1775.  The Marines are often referred to as the "Infantry of the Navy." Marines specialize in amphibious operations. In other words, their primary specialty is to assault, capture, and control "beach heads," which then provide a route to attack the enemy from almost any direction.  Each year we celebrate Marine Day on November 10th.

coast-guard.jpgCoast Guard.
Founded on August 4, 1790.   In peacetime, the Coast Guard is primarily concerned with law enforcement, boating safety, sea rescue, and illegal immigration control. However, the President of the United States can transfer part or all of the Coast Guard to the Department of the Navy in times of conflict. Each year we celebrate Coast Guard Day on August 4th.
